PRIMARY SCHOOL
Exceptional teachers are the cornerstone to quality education. Our teacher development programme is designed to support beneficiaries across Foundation, Intermediate, and Senior Phase teaching.
With an underpinning focus on both Mathematical and English literacy, we equip and train teachers with innovative teaching methods that equip their learners with the 21st century skills needed for future success in later teaching phases, and in life.
1. Training workshops
Allowing for collaborative learning with supported project teachers, this created through the sharing and implementation of insights, observations and suggestions on best practices within their classrooms.
Supported project teachers learn exciting, pedagogical-based strategies that can then be applied within their everyday teaching, supporting enhanced delivery of the CAPS curriculum.
Differentiated instruction is a key component to our teacher development programme. We emphasize and teach differentiation to meet the diverse needs of all learners (across various educational contexts), ensuring no child is left behind.
2. Subject forum meetings
Teachers engage in English and Mathematics-focused forum meetings, together, exploring curriculum alignment and effective teaching approaches within both subjects: Foundation, Intermediate and Senior Phase.
Our methodology supports the concrete to semi-concrete to abstract approach. Teachers also receive training and guidance on how to use available household materials to make practical teaching aids that can then be used when teaching English and Mathematics within their classrooms.
We provide curriculum enhancement as well as guidance on how to deliver CAPS-aligned content within a structured and blended teaching environment. Supported teachers exit the project with the practical tools needed to enhance their lessons and engage learners practically.
3. School Management Team (SMT) and leadership training
Leadership development for effective school management is an integral component to any school development project or programme. We engage School Management Teams (SMT’s) in the implementation of sustainable systems, processes and best teaching practices within their schools.
Through this, we address and improve on school resource allocations, key SMT roles, and creating a positive school culture that supports maximum teacher and learner development across a sustainable period.
4. In-classroom support
We provide in-classroom support, observing all supported project teachers in action. Co-teaching, lesson modelling, and constructive feedback assists in refining best teaching practices. Through integrating theory, practice, and assessment, we foster sustainable change in teaching and learning.
Assessment is used as a tool to adjust learner-based interventions, ensuring progress, growth and maximum project success, with improved learner-based academic results.
Well-planned, differentiated English and Mathematics lessons accelerate the learner’s progress in literacy and numeracy, creating a strong foundation for future success.
